Broadcom is laying off 1,100 employees after its $5.5 billion Brocade merger

Broadcom is laying off about 1,100 employees.
The announcement comes after Broadcom's $5.5 acquisition of network gear maker Brocade in November.
The company is expected to pay the majority of its employee termination costs in the third quarter.
Broadcom said it had laid off about 1,100 employees across its businesses to cut costs after its merger with Brocade Communications Systems.
