There are reportedly 34.5 million people who claim Irish ancestry in the US , making America's Irish population seven times larger than that of Ireland itself, according to the Washington Post. And yet our two cultures are quite different.
I recently went to Ireland and noticed some big cultural differences between the US and Ireland that I found worth noting.
Keep in mind this is all based on my own experience, and other people's findings may vary. In Ireland, small talk is life.

Business Insider recently looked at how Americans across the country identify their ancestral and ethnic backgrounds .
One interesting answer was people who identified their ancestry as simply American or from the United States.
That answer was most common in southern states.
