The Department of Tourism aims to end the year 2018 on a positive note, with the country's tourism projecting a positive image to the world, following the promotion of sustainable tourism and the rehabilitation of major tourist destinations in the country.

2018 was a chaotic year for the Department of Tourism of the Philippines, with Wanda Teo walking out as secretary and the DOT failing to meet its target of 7.4 million tourist arrivals owing to the six-month closure of the world-famous Boracay Island.
