Taiwan railways back to normal, except tourist trains

All the railway services in Taiwan gradually returned to normal in the morning today after typhoon Maria passed over northern Taiwan overnight.
The express train services on the West Coast Line from Taipei to Kaohsiung began at 6:00 a.m. and service on the East Coast Line from Taipei to Hualien was restarted at 9:00 a.m., according to the latest Taiwan Railways Administration update. All local trains have also resumed their normal schedules.

Thousands evacuated as Typhoon Maria headed towards Taiwan

The Government of Taiwan began to evacuate the population from the mountain zones as the deadliest storm Typhoon Maria is heading towards the island. The offices and schools were closed and flights were cancelled.
Maria was 200 kilometers east-northeast of the northeastern coastal town of Yilan packing gusts of up to 173 kilometers an hour as of 10:00 pm , the weather bureau said.
